There’s Light At Life’s Tunnel’s Other End!

Rating: 2.5

There’s Light at Life’s Tunnel’s Other End!
When I entered Life’s tunnel sometime back,
It was a totally new experience!

Sometimes, we’re shoved into this by others;
At times, we enter it all by ourselves;
Sometimes, the adverse environs force us;
At times, God allows such a trial-test;
The devils too happily see us thus!
This journey, we must make it with success.

It was filled with darkness, coldness, solitude,
Without a ray of hope-light from outside;
I groped my way for weeks and years on end;
I found the tunnel almost ne’er –ending!
Despair had filled my mind and heart often;
At times, I thought I must live like the rest-
A sinful life, without the fear of God!
At times, I thought I must back off / return;
The odds were pitted heavily ‘gainst me!
My conscience advised me to carry on;
Life’s trials, tribulations come to all;
In life, none can escape adversity;
Life’s challenges we earthlings face somehow;
Cowards only avoid realities!

I continued to be always upright;
I had to keep my good principles too;
I cried to God and pleaded many times;
Hopelessness filled my heart on many days;
But I did not veer from my righteous path;
Problems and strife do come to all earthlings;
Perhaps, they chose a few pre-destined ones!

The God who made me with love like others,
Would not forsake me anytime in life;
He made me specially for role unique;
He won’t neglect or ignore any soul;
I put my trust in God and walked ahead.

The tunnel was much longer than I thought;
I trudged my way without help from others;
I scarcely walked and never could I run;
God was my only Friend in times of need;
He made me feel that everything will end.

Our transient life has joys and woes chain-like:
There was light surely at the tunnel’s end!
It took a longer time for me, of course!
And when I saw the light at last stream in,
The joy I felt was indescribable;
The light was brighter than I expected,
Remaining so for the rest of my life!

God made it possible in turbulent days
To live without succumbing to devils;
And soon my days of woes were almost gone;
God showed a land of ‘milk and honey’ fast,
And here I live with dignity and pride;
I thank my God for all His help/ Mercy.

He was the one who stood by me in strife;
He was the one who lifted me in falls;
He was the one who consoled me when ill;
He was the one who gave me company;
He was the one who changed my dismal world;
He was the one who put my foes to shame;
He was the one who gave me victory.

He was the one who gave me strength of mind;
He was the one who walked ahead of me;
He was the one who helped carry my cross;
He was the one who forgave all my sins;
He was the one who instilled hopes anew;
He was the one who guided / counseled me;
He was the one who had loved me truly!
He was the one who energized my frame;
He was the one who opened my eyes wide;
He was the one who helped me smell dangers;
He was the one who loved me more than men;
He was the one who cared for me so well.

Sometimes in life, we do enter tunnels,
Of variable lengths and sizes, shapes, pitch-dark;
How long we have to walk in it none know;
No one can tell if we can reach the end.

But, there is light certainly at the end;
We must make it with patience, will-power;
And once we reach it, there ends our troubles;
The world will change most miraculously;
No more can devils tempt us with success;
We cannot commit mortal sins again.

The Lord has been with us through all our strife,
And showed the path of cross to Calvary;
For that’s the way we ought to live on earth;
And that’s the way we must enter Heaven.
God has ear-marked a time/ season for things;
We must await it without losing hope;
Our faith will give us surely victory;
And Heaven too to all His righteous souls!

God’s most beloved of creatures is man!
God has a plan even before our birth;
He knows our heart even before we’re made;
He watches us sleepless both night and day;
He feels so sad when we too face troubles;
But He will never close His eyes or turn,
Even for a fraction of a moment.

He knows too well the devils’ wily ways,
And cannot permit one more soul to hell!
The price of sins of all mankind was paid,
By death on cross of Jesus Christ, God’s son,
Who was begotten and on earth born man:
God’s love transformed into a human frame!
What greater love can Maker have for man?
God gave His only son’s life to save us.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
David Tanguay 13 March 2006

I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. However I believe we must continue to crawl through this tunnel, untill the day we die. For the light is the freedom we only aquire in heaven. As long as we live here on Earth, we cannot be completely free.
