The Wiccan Poem by Maurice Rowlands

The Wiccan

Something she senses
Where no one else can
The owl is wiser
She feels
There is no darkness tonight
Three flaps of a dragonfly’s wing
Is all I need
To complete what I started

She searches the pale skies
Where no one else can
The dragonfly is wiser
He feels
There is no feeling tonight
Three times I have called
It’s all I need
To end what you’ve started

She pulls her cloak around her
Where no one else can
She is wiser
She feels
Tonight is not the night
Three beats of my heart
It’s all the owl needs
To know when to fly away

The witch will know
When her time is gone
Three ticks of the clock
And Nostradamus will know
Just what we have done

Where is the beauty
When the owl and the trees
And the dragonfly have gone

The Wiccan will feel so alone
