Maurice Rowlands Poems

1.

You are not alone
Lupine
Howling up to the inviting glow of the moon
Beautiful She-Wolf
...

Upon the haunted misty hills
Of Dinas Emrys
Back twelve hundred years
The castle shall tumble down
...

I am the forest that no one can see
You are the path that leads unto me
I’m the stupid dumb kid that falls out of the tree
You are the plaster that fixes my knee
...

Bearing the Southern wind
We’ll wander through the winding paths
Of the dying forests
We’ll creep through the rising heat
...

Whisper to a ghost
That walks lonely through the lands
What in life was most important
That has slipped from your hands
...

Little did Polly know
That her drunken soul was dancing along
Through the streets of London without a song
Where the darkest of shadows and ghosts belong
...

An angel’s feather floats down from the sky
And skims over the ocean
But never quite touches the surface
Thankful that it never sank
...

Strange little fat man
With a haircut so bad
As you can tell I’m no fan
In fact you’re kinda sad
...

I should have known it was a dream
When the hands of that dusty old clock
Were moving too fast
Spinning out of control
...

Pristine pool
Quiet as a snowdrop
Nonchalant emotion, he stands and waits
“I am here” she whispers
...

Just Before Christmas
Every year
When the world is full of cheer
There's a blossoming of flowers
...

I tripped over while walking through the woodland path
And now I'm falling

I landed on some golden Autumn leaves and some hard acorns
...

Lift up your head
Go on
It’s really not that far
Lift up your face and feel the rain on your skin
...

Feeding or maybe it’s bleeding
Whichever, your heart itself is conceding
Fighting, biting, the spark is igniting
Born again, torn and reborn
...

Find yourself
Notes can only play with beauty
If the moth has come out
Of its chrysalis
...

Follow the path
Keep running
Don’t look back
...

A celestial ocean of glistening stars
Shimmering over his island
Cascading down a blanket of eerie light
Down upon the vast expanse of sands
...

Something she senses
Where no one else can
The owl is wiser
She feels
...

On my Loves lips
The scorpion has kissed
...

Come in out of the cold
Have a beer
From the streets they will sweep
Every last tear
...

The Best Poem Of Maurice Rowlands

Wolf

You are not alone
Lupine
Howling up to the inviting glow of the moon
Beautiful She-Wolf
Tethered by chains

You are not forsaken
Lupine
Squinting up to the blast of the sun
Damned nocturnal creature
Tethered by night

You are not mistaken
Lupine
Mistaken for mere canine
Eyes glistening
Tethered by fear

You are not shaken
Lupine
Howling because we have lost you
Beautiful creature
Tethered by prejudice

Come back to us
We are tethered by our fear of you

Lupine
