The Universe Is Not Safe
THE UNIVERSE IS NOT SAFE
The Universe is not safe-
There are great explosions,
And long impossibly long darknesses,
Unbearable extremes of heat and cold-
Venturing out into it
One little step at a time
Many of us will die-
The Universe is not our home
Earth is-
And if we get out there somewhere
It won’t be for certain or forever.
It won’t be easy,
And we humans will not love it at all.
