The Theatre Of My Mind Poem by TMA

The Theatre Of My Mind

Reality is cruel;
I’d rather dream instead
I wonder what it’d be like
To live inside my head…

To leave behind gravity
And other laws that bind
Gravity and sanity
Sensibility of every kind
All the disappointments of human life
Are left away behind
Here everyone will like me
And I’ll take everyone’s side
And you will be so generous
As to pay me in kind
You really have no choice, because,
All your actions are mine-
You’re just another player
In the theatre of my mind.

Her everything works out
And I finish once I’ve started
Plans never fail here
And lovers are never parted
My friends are all around me-
And my enemies are deserted
Our days are full of laughter-
We are always making merry
And I always get the cheese,
They are Tom, and I am Jerry…

Everyone I like is here
And I get to know them better
And who cares if you don’t like me?
It’s my play, you’re just an extra
I’m the star, and the Director,
I’m the audience and the playwright
And every scene is happy
So you know I wrote the play right.
All the scenes are met, of course,
With total approval and loud applause…

But soon I must wake up
And open up my eyes
The darkness is still around me
And the sun has failed to rise.
I had a wonderful dream
It was bright, and warm, and tender
To provide a spark amidst this dark
But alas! I can’t remember…
