The Struggle To Keep Your Self Alive Poem by Kellyn, A Grau

The Struggle To Keep Your Self Alive

With in these steel blue eyes
My heart exposed between the pupils
My pain marked all across my face
The stains of black eyeliner running down my cheeks
Showing the pain that cannot be seen upon first sight
The kind that’s built up inside
That sooner or later explodes into the surface
And you sit there shaking and so scared
Unsure who to turn to for comfort due to your pride
So you set a course to no where
To see where it takes you and find the truth
Yet between the darkness you see a light
Only to have it ripped from you once more
So you turn away from everyone, becoming numb
This is the fight to live another day
The struggle to show your not weak
That you can stand alone, you don’t need anyone
But it’s all right to admit you need help
Admit that you could use a hand to pull you back
So overwhelmed by everything
My inspiration not even helping me with the darkest times
So I you turn, scared, lonely, afraid, disowned
Desolated by the world you once knew so well
You take the bladed friend to see if you’re alive
The crimson liquid falls to the ground
Wounds so clear it you would have to be oblivious not to see
The truth that pours out your veins and into the floor
But no one comes to your aide
No one comes to rescue you
It seems everyone you care fore and trusted has vanished
Leaving you alone, and left to deal with the demons
So you hold on to a dream, a little whisper of support
That somehow you will make it through alone
Just like you use to do, when no one knew the rule you
The shadows of your past still haunting you
You thought you had forgotten then but here they come again
They come to get you and tear your soul into shreds
To break you down and make you see the horrid truth
You can’t do this alone, you need someone around
So you scream into the darkness but it’s muffled by a sound
One unknown to the human ear and not fully understood
The sound of a heart breaking into pieces due to sadness
Will you find where you belong, will you find the warmth
Will you leave the darkness and feel the love again
So over done by all the stress, all consuming you
This is just to much for one person to hold in
So sense no one will come to my aide
I’ll scream to the gods and hope they understand me
Hope they send me a sign on how to deal with all of this
All alone, gain my independence and never need anyone to heal
