The Spirit Of The Wolf Poem by Jean Dament

The Spirit Of The Wolf

Just becuase I appear mean to thee,
Be careful neither to harshly judge me;
As my haggard looks & moody actions might deceive...when my hunting skills are on display,
But like you I too have my gentle & loving ways,
Of which my family can attest,
My strength & loyalty are traits that are admired best,
Wise Indians of yore have revered me for remaining steady & true,
They knew me to be a family guy through & through;
So if we happen both to meet in the deep woods at night,
You might find me standing staring back at you, but soon I'll fade into that site;
For I confess that Id rather avoid a confrontation with you of any kind,
But don't take me for granted either...as I am not blind.

Spiritsong,
