The Sinking Hole Poem by Vijay Sai R

The Sinking Hole

No change in life
As usual
Normal and regular
For the couple
Dwelling in grass-lands
Uncovered by urban living
Peaceful and contended-
The farm house
So simple
Yet so beautiful
Silent night
Slipping away as usual
When, into mid night
So abruptly and
So unexpectedly
Clipping sound
Ferocious shivering
Of glass panes
Window curtains
Moving so wildly
Just about into recognizing
What really happened
Stepping out
Of their home
Only to find
Gripping fear
The scene before them-
A devastating hole
Much like a crater
Of huge diameter
So called as SINKHOLE
Opening up
In parts of Florida
Totally unexplored and
Totally unknown
Later to be revealed
The source of these
Dangerous happenings-
Effect of vacuum or
Loss of water content or
Even loose soil
Pulling everything down-
Yet another catastrophe
In human inhabitants
Natures fury
So difficult to predict
The unpredictable sinkhole!
