The Shadow Of His Smile Poem by jerry hughes

The Shadow Of His Smile

His grip was strong
and his eyes twinkled,
he was pleased to see me.
Alan Bainbridge, friend and
mentor with a vocal delivery
that thundered, now reduced
to an incoherent whisper.

I recall something he said
the last time we lunched.
'It's a bugger getting old'
It certainly is Al pal,
it certainly is.

Sad to see this happen to anyone Jerry and a friend especially - - we need all the warm memories we can muster to help us cope with the truth at times.... with this tribute your friend Alan will always be the thunderer and the mentor.... greetings from a kindred spirit in Cornwall U.K. xx
