The Secret Of My Glow Poem by Rubaba Mmahajia Rahma Sabtiu

The Secret Of My Glow

Provoking was I
How could I be like that?
Strange I was to them
She pitied me
She who wasn’t like me
Civilization! Wasn’t I seeing it?
What kind of choice could I make?
She finally gave me an advice
Follow the latest trend strange girl
Life is too short for weirdness
I nodded
Not that I was taking the advice
I smiled
That seemed interesting
I thought
Latest trend, what was that?
Then another came
What was with this girl?
What with this old ways?
Is my attention not good enough for her?
Answer is; NOT GOOD ENOUGH
He finally gave me an advice
With this attitude
No second look for you
Oh! Oh! Oh!
And how many looks does he give me in a day?
So many it makes me mad
But then, to the attitude
I cover it all
No handshakes and hugs
No flirting; My Major Rule
No to all that attracts his sexuality
Because I am a woman
Made to partner not to enslave
Every bit of me
Too precious for mishandling
A woman, God conscious
But then to them
It is serious BOREDOM
Their way of life
Very boring to me
And so, we are even
