If I Should Speak Poem by Rubaba Mmahajia Rahma Sabtiu

If I Should Speak

Bring to me my green veil
Today I have a lovely tale
My passion went wild
My talk cannot be mild
Perhaps I would tell you my name
Right when I am finally tame
If I should speak
You can hear me from the mountain's peak
I tell the stories of the ages
On the shining floors of the stages
He lived this life and died this death
He was heard by the deaf
He was spoken to by the mute
Isn't that too cute
Well keep up with the smiles
Because I am going to go miles
To read about him
To talk about him
If I should speak
You can hear me from the mountains peak
I am not mad
And yes I am not sad
I am only dazed
And I could not be more amazed
By a man! By a man! By a man!
If I should speak
You can hear me from the mountain's peak
My lips will say Abaa al-Qaasim
My heart will sound the peace and blessings of God be upon him
