The Same Shoes Poem by Randy McClave

The Same Shoes

When they walked to church to say a prayer
When they stepped around danger to avoid a snare,
And when they helped someone up because they did care
Remember, the shoes that they did wear.

Remember the shoes that they wore to church
Look at the shoes as they avoided a smirch,
Remembering their shoes before their helpful search
Remember them, and then do your research.

Though they are very old scuffed and worn
And though they are sometimes muddy and a bit torn,
And sometimes they are very painful like a thorn
Remember, out of need they were born.

Whenever they listened to another person's views
Whenever helping others they did happily choose,
And when a harmful situation they did quickly diffuse
Remember, they are always wearing the very same shoes.
