The Sadness Is/ That Everyone Dies Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Sadness Is/ That Everyone Dies

The sadness is
That everyone dies
No matter how good you have been
No matter how great you struggle to be
No matter how kind and gentle wise and strong
It's everyone
Everyone you have ever known
Or will know
It's you yourself
No one escapes
No one
And it's so sad
Because there are so many wonderful people
So many people you want to be with you always
So many people you feel have so much to give still
So many people you just want to be in your world
So many people you love
So many
And you yourself also
No matter how you try
No matter how you think you are delaying it now
No matter how well you are now
And how good you think you are doing now
Its sad
You too
Everyone
The way of the world
The fact of life.
