The Opaque Windows Of The Ghetto Poem by Naldo Africa

The Opaque Windows Of The Ghetto

When your whole life is bereft of hope
and your sad tears are of no avail
lo, do you know how it feels
to live a life as dead as a doornail?

The haunted absence of food products
takes the place of your daily pastime
and robbery and voilence in the slum,
turned out to be a must-do crime

The opaque window of the ghetto

Fear the boys who dawdle on the corner
even the urchin who stands far aloof,
his strength is beyond the scope of life
a dire state of hunger made him to move

A great many start to blame their race
since rejection is found everywhere,
they just swallowed the fitful failure
like a huge breath of fresh air

The opaque window of the ghetto

When you find true love in drug abuse
and led yourself to a funerary ordeal,
thereby you helped many in the slum
by providing them with a happy free meal

No one cares if you roam in the streets,
when you die they seem to care,
as if you were a missing person
they ask questions and jump out of nowhere

The opaque window of the ghetto

Poverty paused your dreams in life,
try not to give up at the end of the rope,
hold unto dreams
where there is life, there is always hope

The opaque window of the ghetto
