The One That Got Away Poem by Randy McClave

The One That Got Away

One day I looked and she was gone
Like the morning dawn,
I never knew where she had went
I was not ever given a hint.

I thought that us two were the same,
But, then who is to blame,
We were together for such a short while
But, I enjoyed her style.

I was lost and she was found
Her perspectives were all sound,
A moment with her was like a forever
Never will those memories, dare I sever.

I sit on my couch staring out my window glass
Hoping again to see her pass,
Seconds become days, then they turn into years
I covered up all of my mirrors.

We were together for such a short time
Enough moments for only a short rhyme,
Was it something that I did or said
Or was it something that she knew, or read.

I hope that she left for a belief and not for other men
Never did I hear from her again,
I truly wanted her to stay
But, she was that one that got away.
