The One Poem by Maria Luz de Castro

The One

One against many.
It would be futile
to fight the mob.
It has formed
its own conclusion
against the virtually
unknown...

The judge and savior
is in a quandary
whom to tilt
the scale of justice for.
In the end,
he tilts the scale
in his favor.

Then, his influence
remains intact;
his name unsullied
by controversy;
his future insured.
And justice
shall be done.

Not to the One
who most need it
but to the One
who benefits most
from it - the One
who holds
the scale of justice...
