Life!
Like European dogs with clothes on;
Muse!
Like African dogs without clothes on;
But, the thief waits for the night and,
The adulterer waits for the dusk.

The muse of life!
Full of ups and downs;
But, wash yourselves and make yourselves clean.
The muse of life!
With the terrors of the shadow of death;
And like the harlot houses around us today.

The muse of life!
To the city of my joy;
Learning to be perfect with the laws.
The muse of life!
To the city of my birth;
And, with letters of recommendation.
