The Message Behind Your Smile Poem by Jona PoloRamirez

The Message Behind Your Smile

'There is a message in everybody's smile.' JPR

She mirrored herself into a pond,
She speaks not with her mouth but in her sad eyes,
I wanted to asked her why? She just smiled - the lovely wrinkles
On her face glowless and trying to reach out to mine eyes,
And so the question flew out of my tongue but she just
Stared at me. 'I want to hear your voice.' I asked again,
She just smiled at me and only momentarily,
And then her cold breath billowed into the twinkling
Warmth of the lake, a white swan swam by flapping
Its wings, ready to carry away the cold breeze blowing
From the South of the lake, the roses alive- in multicolor
Of the day, she smiled and the pleasant warmth of the day
Brightened the smile on her gloomy yet calmed face,
She stood by the lake; solemn, wordless...
But the smile on her face spoke a thousand words
She never could have said before. Now she is happy,
Pass the sorrow of this earth. A swan flapped by and
Waved with a smile to a lone figure by the lake, she smiled
Back sweetly with a warm wave of 'Hello' and 'Goodbye...'

To my friend forever, Mansoureh
