Blue Mountains Of Katoomba Poem by Jona PoloRamirez

Blue Mountains Of Katoomba

Mountains of forest far beyond the eye can see,
Forest undergrowth surviving to be free.
Sassafras, willi-pilli entertwined in glee,
This jungle of trees survival in melee.

One tree survived, the other to provide,
Life to each own these trees of varied kind,
The fight for life yet providing still with pride
Standing side by side yet different in its kind.

Wonder how they survived this jungle kind of life,
Canopy of trees and a fern-like undergrowth
Its shadows overlap yet more of bushes thrived,
The awesome sight the forest do imbibed.

Three-headed shape mountains leaning side by side,
Overlooking mountain range expanse so ever wide
An ownership reclaimed the wind does still proclaim,
A throne of three the ranges do decree.

The soft laughing sound of waterfalls below,
Bouncing up to touch the elusive human toe
Suspended in space, the mind is floating too
Canopies look up images of green smiling glow.

Up here, different nooks of the world
A gaze below and beyond new horizons unfurled,
Social distinction like canopies beyond
An undergrowth in unity, survival has been won.

Jona, your description of the Three Sisters and surrounds is uniquely you. I picture what you saw with your eyes - different from mine, but easily interpretable as the same scene. It is scenery to take the breath away. Rgds, Ivan
