The Man Who Lost His Shadow Poem by Paul Hartal

The Man Who Lost His Shadow

It was around nine o'clock
in the morning when he noticed
that his shadow faded away and vanished.

Extremely worried,
instead of walking to his office,
he decided to see his physician.

The doctor measured his blood pressure,
took his pulse, checked his temperature
and conducted a series of other tests.
"There seems to be nothing wrong
with you", said the doctor.

The man left the doctor's office relieved.
He walked now under a clear blue sky,
elated and whistling.

A bright sun was shining above
and he was happy to see that his shadow
reappeared as if out of nowhere.
