As I passed you by with a glance
I realized that I passed you by chance
But was it chance or by some sort of plan
And when this happened I knew I wanted to be your man
You were on the arms of some other guy
Holding him close
But I knew that you wanted me instead
And for just one moment I thought somehow she knows
That I could love her for all of time
I know this is true because I saw our life in your eyes
You knew our love would be sublime
But as soon as we said our silent hello we said our silent goodbyes
Maybe we’ll see each other again, but maybe we’ll both think of the day
When our one and only chance passed away
With the love we knew only by chance
As I silently passed you only with a glance
