The Longing Poem by robert ortiz

The Longing

I try to choke back the tears
But the pain is over whelming
Here it comes
Damn can’t it stop?
It’s been so long ago
But the memories are so fresh
This pain, this hurt, this anger, this life
That I want to wake up from
Damn let me wake up
But I’m already awake, staring down
But trying to hold my head up
I remember the times
When you laughed at my jokes
I remember the time when you cried
You didn’t love me
A flood of tears
A drowning of hurt
A love that hurts
A love that isn’t real
A love that is yesterday
Not today
That has no tomorrow
What day is this?
Days go into nights
Nights go into days
The open bottle turns into an empty bottle
I’ve seen to many empty bottles
I don’t sleep
I don’t smile
God
God what do you want of me
I’m here
I’m listening
But I can’t seem to hear you
