The Lepchas Whom I Knew Them Not Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Lepchas Whom I Knew Them Not

The Lepchas,
Their dressing-styles and costumes,
Their housings and dwellings,
The ares which they inhabit,
Their hats and thatches,
Huts and vibes
Take me far, take me far
To an India
Bordering the fringes,
The Himalayan sectors
Which I knew them not,
Felt it not
Just the swollen sellers
From Tibet,
The Gorkhas selling 'hing'
And our age-old tryst with the Naga sadhus
Coming from far
Visiting the villages.
