The Leaving Poem by Jeff Stoddart

The Leaving

All the lessons we meet on lifes journey
We never learn, oh never learn
And the paths that we take deep and thorny
No return, no return.

There are many reasons that your going
And there are many a reason you should stay
For the love that we had it kept a growing
Day by day, oh day by day.

When I lie in my bed on Sunday mornings
Without you, oh without you
The poem in my breast it gives a warning
I'm so blue, oh I'm so blue

So you left me alone with just pain in my heart
And you went with no trace left behind,
I should have taken notice but my eyes were closed and blind
And you know that was the last thing on my mind.
