The Lady Web That Turned Thirty Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

The Lady Web That Turned Thirty

Rating: 5.0

If she were a young woman
Her youth would begin to wane,
Her father— of the old school,
Also thinks she's not so cool.

Looking at her present spell,
Nor she looks hot, nor so well,
Look at all scams she's been in,
Her aura rather grey from green,

If she can't gather her grace,
Work hard, lift up fallen face,
Never would have the Web's lure,
The world would have failed for sure.

The lady Web is thirty,
Prime, nor does she look pretty.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
World-Wide Web, symbolised as WWW, recently turned thirty. One of mankind's best creation, she has been ailing of late. Whilst writing ‘best creation', my fingers slipped and I wrote ‘beast' instead, and she sure could be beastly if not handled well. Today mankind faces a challenge. No one would say: the Web failed the world, but that the world failed the Web.

I believe, poems need not always be 'beauty and butterfly, love and despair, and vague poetic expressions neither here nor there. Poems can be meaningful reflecting the current happenings, the prevailing zeitgeist, the mood of time. Thank you for appreciating, because I know such poems may not appeal to larger readership.
