The Kite Poem by Rhuta Joshi

The Kite

Rating: 5.0

I sailed through the sky
To those clouds up high
And flew without wings
With currents of winds

From high up I see
Massive rivers and trees
As the breeze of dreams
Blew and tickled my seams

I tried to reach farther
I tried to reach higher
But I looked back to see
That string pulling me

I tugged away harder
And struggled to set free
'Damn you string
Just let go of me! '

The wind soon howled
The gale then growled
And before I knew
The line broke in two

The flurry carried me
Untethered, unbound
Miles to freedom
And dazzling dreams found

Fulfilled and complete
With a breath of fresh air
I glided, I swayed
I danced, I dared

Then rose a tempest
Fierce and untamed
Shuddered and juddered me
And left me maimed

Within a few seconds
Those winds unruly
Shot me to the sky
And dropped me in the alley

Deserted and dark
Beaten and broken
Look where I am
Lost and forgotten

I remember my days
Of dreaming with the skies
Alive and spirited
Secured with ties

But I'm hopeful someday
I'll be found again
I'll be flying again
I'll be dreaming again

Again I'll see
Massive rivers and trees
With my faithful string
Securing my being

it has a 'the grass isn't always greener on the other side' kind of vibe. I loved it!
