The River Poem by Rhuta Joshi

The River

Deep down in the gorge, I rush
With steep mountains on both my side,
Where making my own tumultuous path
Is the only rule that I abide.
Don't know what lies beyond the bend,
I must keep flowing till the end.

I see the flapping bird perch high,
I watch the royal tiger tread by;
I admire them for a fleeting track
Before my course beckons me back.
Who knows what's new beyond the bend,
I must keep flowing till the end.

As this calm surface gushes within
Just a part of me is always seen.
All those boulders blocking today,
I cut them through or twist my way.
All troubles don't last beyond the bend,
I must keep flowing till that very end.

Shades of green and shades of blue
I reflect on everything that I see,
Some illusions while others true
These impressions are what I might be.
Reflections may change beyond the bend
But I must keep flowing till the end.

I merge with others flowing like me
Whether big or small, a tributary.
Together we move to meet our sea
To find out where we're meant to be.
Can't say what awaits beyond the bend
But we will keep flowing till the end.
