The Jub Jub Bird Poem by Greg Davidson

The Jub Jub Bird

Rating: 4.5

Beware, my friend, the Jub Jub bird
With fearsome beak and claw
It roosts amidst the Jub Jub tree
‘Tixt the hours of nine and four.

Take note the capacious beak of blue,
For troughs, so well designed,
And claws for holding paper bags,
If they are so inclined.

They prance about the Jub Jub trees
In brocade vests and trews
Serenading fairy wrens,
To make the evening news.

Or toss about the Jub Jub nuts,
They've gathered from the trees,
Then dine with crows and wobbegongs
On steak and blue vein cheese.

Take note as well the Bandersnatch
That scuttles to and fro,
Collecting bags of Jub Jub nuts
To plant them in a row.

Beware the one-eyed Bandersnatch,
If eloquent of word.
When fed on thyme and nursery rhyme
Becomes a Jub Jub bird.
