The Innocence Of Being A Child Poem by Rishi Thakkar

The Innocence Of Being A Child

Rating: 5.0

I stare @people who come and go...
Seeing me they smile so much, feel so happy little about their Plastic Smile i know.
With my round bubbly eyes i keep staring @them..
Few aunties play with me, few uncles feel joy while in the air they throw me...
I feel elated when i experience to be in the air, i wish i could fly...
At least for once in that tender age due to my innocence i think its worth a try...
In little toys lies my BIG WORLD, in that one word's pronunciation lies the fulfillment of my every NEED...
The one word each child screams that MAMMA,
She knows exactly what her child wants and fr what their eyes PLEAD.
Small cars, Balls and robots make me happy till i grow Five
Video games, x box ps3 are all a part of my future entertainment without which i cant afford a Smile
Further more i grow and learn the significance of study,
Its all the most important and an integral part of life BUDDY,
Bachelors, Masters, C.A ETC
Its all a race for me i must keep adding certificates to my C.V MORE AND MORE EXTRA
Securing a job makes every one around so Happy,
People again come to congratulate me the same way they did when i was a child, in my dypee
The difference is now i can differentiate between the gestures and the smiles
A few jealous eyes, a few plastic smiles a few people unnecessarily commenting all the while..
Further forward in life i discover the newest TOY,
Boys call it GIRL, Girls call it BOY
The target is always winning over the HEART,
Something thats difficult without being HURT...
As a human every day i grow,
Jobs, business money, property all i secure...
On my climb towards the top of the Tree called success...
I do lots of things which are wrong, as long as i get what i want, why should i care...
Until today when in the eyes of my child i see....
Innocence of being in the world, of looking up with a smile @me...
I miss that Innocence of being YOU my child...
When every mistake i made was pardoned with a warning...
When every small little success i got in school was welcomed with chocolates and ice creams
When teachers stick and doing sit ups was the only thing that used to worry me,
When me, my books, my cricket bats and video games is all i could see...
When everything mom used to make was so much more delicious than any Restaurant could provide,
When papas one pat on the back was the thing that used to motivate me, thats the thing that on my tensed face used to ensure a smile so WIDE...
I know i can never have that INNOCENCE back...
In the modern day life thats the biggest ingredient we grown ups LACK.....
