The Hours Poem by Jim Coleman

The Hours

Rating: 5.0

Wakey wakey! ! Here's your tea."
"I thought it was my turn today."
"No you did it yesterday… or was it me? "
.
"I've put your coffee on the tray."
"It can't be 10 o'clock already? "
"Time flies! Seize the day, I say! "
.
"It's 12 o'clock. Is lunch ready? "
"It's on the table if you care to look.
It's yesterday's spaghetti."
.
Afternoon tea's at 3 o'clock,
And supper is at six.
Then I watch TV and you read a book

The hours will try to scurry by unnoticed
but our little routines can catch them out
by shining spotlights that transfix

them while we take time out
and lounge about.
