The Greatest Something Poem by Adam Henson

The Greatest Something

Somethings are good, somethings are bad
Somethings are awesome and some make me glad
Somethings are wasteful, somethings are gain
Somethings are healing, somethings bring pain
Somethings are garbage and shouldn't exist
Somethings are fleeting and when gone are missed
Somethings are precious worth fighting a fight
Somethings are beautiful, perfect and right
Somethings, when had, bring nothing but sorrow
To behold them brings nothing but pain to tomorrow
Somethings when lost rip my heart in two
And nothing but God can carry me through
Nothing, no nothing, is worth giving up all
Of the somethings that sometimes on me may befall
Except one thing, not something, but someone, a being
Someone who always is something of meaning
Someone who's always faithful to love
To cherish me though I am unworthy of
This love that this someone has decided to
Some reason show me in a way that is true
Something about him, and nothing of me
Somehow decides to give me for free
The gift of a something that surpasses all
The somethings that I seem to some reason call
Important, though none of them nearly compare
To this love and this gift that this someone does share.
