The Greatest Love Of All. Poem by dave lessard

The Greatest Love Of All.

Rating: 5.0

What is the greatest love of all?
please tell me if you can;
is it man's love for a woman?
then you don't understand.

Is it the love for a child,
that gives one a great blessing?
if you think it so -
then you still are guessing.

Perhaps the love of a pet,
is what your really thinking;
but if that is your answer,
my guess is you've been drinking.

The greatest love of all
is the God that gave you birth;
that gave your soul its spirit,
laughter, tears and mirth.

The greatest love of all,
is the promise of tomorrow;
when death will be destroyed,
and the end of all our sorrow.

dave, i laughed at your line, my guess is you've been drinking. i tend to think all of these loves are from God who is the source, yes? as you say in the last stanza, it'd be hard to overestimate how important it is that death has been removed as a fear for us. -glen

I quite agree with you on the greatest love of all. No other love is superior to the love of God.
