The Girl Who Never Cried … Again Poem by Pritam Bhowmick

The Girl Who Never Cried … Again

Rating: 5.0

She had wept once…..
Long back…..
When the mother had been
Lowered by men
In the churchyard,
God was so merciless…

After that day
No more tears…
She couldn't afford to,
The rough hands
The ones that reared her
Dumped her in bed….
And there was blood…
And pain….
A desire never to be …
Born again…

She's split
Like a fresh log,
She counts circles
Below her eyes…
Dark ones are they,
Really dark,
Ones that make her feel,
Life's a dungeon,
Patriarchy is the guard!

a very good poem, Pritam: a sad and cruel, but true -and unfortunately so widespread- story. Thanks for sharing

So cruel and sad when the one who should have given her all support, succor and sustenance turns her butcher and betrayer! A touching write! A 10
