The Gatekeeper Part 2 (In Memory Of Edgar Allan Poe) Poem by Gilbert Ortega

The Gatekeeper Part 2 (In Memory Of Edgar Allan Poe)

'Twas a bleak and stormy winter's night
Winds howled like wolfen mourn
A stranger stalked and caused a fright
In the gaunt Gatekeeper's frightful form
His visage, with wonder, was adorned.
Through eons he came and through more he shall go
Came to the Gatekeeper to teach
The stranger told tales that no man should know
Of times and places we've yet to reach
Times we will not reach.
And when the clouds parted and winds did subside
And the Milky Way came into view
No longer hindered by dark cloudy tides
Our keeper now kept something new
From a time when our shadows once flew.
And the subtle, somber whippoorwills
Gave out their woeful cries
The stranger stalked between the stills
And gulfs betwixt dark skies
Fear and wonder in his eyes
Oh, Keeper, the stranger was you!
