The Freedom Of Capitivity Poem by Richard Thornton

The Freedom Of Capitivity

The leaves lie in the lay-by
Up until they carve cryptic clues in the wind
The foliage that is blown
Is either free or controlled by the prison of wind
Depending on which eyes ponder the movement
Can you see the way that they swirl and turn?
In what appears to be an ambigous dance of independance
But don't be fooled
There is no liberty for the leaf
First they are fixed to trees
As the great branches reach
Towards the magificence of the sun
Then to inevitably lose their place in autumn
And the wind governs their excursion
Feast your eyes on their hypnotic journey
And be quietly amazed
As they appear free as birds
But for the leaf
The aviation is without the comfort or control of wings
But to the leaves
It's irrelivant where they start or end
Wether they are green and alive or brown dust
And to the wind
It's irrelivant what it carries in its passing
But to me
The freedom of capitity amazes
