The First Poem

This is the first poem I’ve tried to write in ages
I’ve been writing a book, pages and pages
It’s a private Detective story
I’ve got to keep reaching for some glory

Not so much the glory but the money
Trying to make my rainy days sunny
But also to pass the time
It’s been so long since I’ve made my words rhyme

The first poem I ever wrote
I think was about suicide and death
It’s been too long for me to quote
But I know it was about breathing your last breath

I still think about suicide now and again
But the demons in my head have almost been slain
It only lasts for a short time
And then it goes and then once again I feel fine.
