The End Poem by Vicki Theriault

The End

I'm gonna get back on my feet,
and try to make my life neat.
I'm sorry that I wasn't who you wanted me to be,
but this is and always will be, me.
So this is really the end,
and my heart can finally mend.
I'm not missing you as much as I thought I would,
I'm not even sure I should.
It will be easy getting over you,
it's not like it's something I've never had to do.
I liked you a lot,
but then you go caught.
You were telling lies,
hiding in disguise.
I told you I was independent,
and I thought you knew what that meant.
Don't blame me for your stupidity,
it's not my fault you fell for me.
I hate you for the hell you put me through,
but a broken heart is nothing new.
Now I'm leaving for good,
I'm only saying this cause I think I should.
So this is my last goodbye,
and I just wanted to say, I'm sorry we let our love die.
