Plastic Poem by Vicki Theriault

Plastic

Look at her,
remember how they were.
Look at her plastic smile,
it will last for a while.
There will come a day,
when her smile fades away.
Though she tries to hide,
the pain she holds inside.
It won't disappear,
closely she holds on to the ones so dear.
She wants badly to get over him,
but she knows those chances are slim.
She asks God to get rid of her pain,
as her tears fall like rain.
No one sees her cry,
because she hides behind a pretty lie.
She still cries herself to sleep,
because he hurt her so deep.
Now her whole life is a lie,
she wishes it would all come to an end,
so her shattered heart would mend.
She will move on eventually,
but for now she cries endlessly.
She wants to be loved again,
but she can never trust men.
They always break her heart,
and tear her world apart.
She wishes there would come a day,
that her real smile would stay.
She knows in her heart, that day will never come,
so here she stays along and numb.
To end her pain she will use her knife,
she will have to take her life.
As she plunges the weapon through her chest,
for the first time in her life, she feels the best.
Now she sits in peace,
finally able to release.
She lets God take her away,
so now in heaven she will stay.
