The Ecstacy Of Life Poem by Monika Llinus

The Ecstacy Of Life

I have something that many others don't
I have a gift
but not a guarantee of how long I'll have it
I have a heartbeat that supports my being
and my eyes blink to celebrate the seconds of life as they multiply

I've been here a couple of years
doing what ordinary beings do;
falling flat to my face and rising only to complain of life's unfairness
counting all the times the storms hit me...
yet I never recalled the rainbow after each storm

Life's a dull image
with flashing blacks and pale grays
a contrast of ups and downs
and that's how i forgot to see the beauty in life

Blacks and grays hid the bright colors of life's bloom
The ups and downscovered the beauty of breath and the presence
of life that manifests in a pulse

The beauty that lies in being alive
is the ability to get up everyday
it's a celebration not of feasts but appreciation that sees the colors
of beauty across the vast horizons of life
to see the wonders of life in our deepest pains
to laugh at each moment that deeply amuses us
to hold and cherish the lessons that make us WARMEN
to appreciate the innocence in the smiles of perfect strangers
to simply see a WINNER in our battlefields

For we are men and women of the soil
bearers of breath
created to testify the beauty in life
for life, life is beautiful and worth living.
