Monika Llinus Biography

My names are Monika Nika K. Linus. I was born in and have lived in Namibia ever since. I love writing poetry is especially inborn. Although I cannot really recall when I started writing, I write almost everyday and about just anything- from emotions to the contrast and diverse beauty of my country. Mostly circumstances around me also play a mega role in what I write about. Life has been a ride to hell and back and sometimes my poems contain heartfelt emotion.! ! I've been in the most loveless places, abused in various ways and that's why I said earlier that life's been a ride to hell and back!)

Mother Africa-Tears Of A Real Mom

I am torn down
my family was taken from my loving hand
and now, now I'm all alone

Whether or not death has struck them, I remain uncertain
It hurts as though
sitting on the edge of a sword piercing through the ribcage
straight to my vital organs
and amidst the pain I'm wishing to rewind time...

I'm ready to sacrifice myself so my daughter wouldn't be a sex slave
and so my son does not become a rebel
but my womb hurts in terror
a terror for the future that awaits us
a breaking of love bonds...

All I want is to mother my child
to witness the purity of their growth
but rather the sands of the dunes keep us apart
and a uniting tradition tears us apart
as I watch my children and I break away.
