The Dream Girl! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Dream Girl!

How many dream girls live on Earth with smiles worth more gold?
Perhaps more than most men deserve, such beauty to behold!
Cascading hair, with eyes so blue to make most dreamers stare!
Transfixed, not knowing what to do! As if transformed by prayer!

But you're just another sweetheart! An angel gliding by.
As if a perfect work of art to make each young man sigh.
That great romance that finds true love beyond the rest, for sure!
Another chance that proves enough, like never found before!

Or are you just a fantasy? Dyed hair and make-up, too,
Pretending something you can't be, pretending this is you?
It matters not to guys who fall for dream girls now and then.
And yet, I guess that says it all! Men always think like men!

You could be just a dark brunette that some guys would dismiss,
One look at you, then to forget and not a girl to kiss.
I'm not like them, as I ask now, are you the girl for me,
The dream girl that God sent somehow, perhaps my destiny?

I know I can't prove worthy of the dreams within your heart!
So find some other guy to love so that true love may start!
Love's not enough unless God cares to bless us every day!
Though you're the dream girl of my prayers, a bachelor, I'll stay!
