The Dream Poem by Andrew Evans

The Dream

The autumn leaves fall
As I hear my lovers call
I run to her my heart filled with joy
I look into the face of my new born boy
My heart is filled with so much glee
My mind and soul feel at last free
As I get closer to her the world seems to quake
My lover dissolves and then I awake
This dream was the place to be
But alas my lover was taken from me
As tears fall down my face
I remember how I once felt her warm embrace
My son passed away in the night
Causing my lover to take her own life
As I try to fall asleep again
I know these memories will always be a drain
I can’t take this life any more
For a life without her will be always be a chore
As I slit my wrist
the room seems to fill with a black mist
As I watch the blood fall down
I wonder if my lover will greet me at the gate
Or if I’ll have a horrible fate
As I start to remember what brought me to this place
I wonder if I’ll ever again see her face
