The Disappearing Woman Poem by Kath Carter

The Disappearing Woman

All she has is a handful of tears where she once had a handful of dreams
There is no-one to listen and nobody cares that's the way that it seems
She looks in the mirror and stares into her eyes
They reflect someone back she can't recognise
Where has she gone to and when did she leave
She's not who she was it's hard to believe

She stares in the mirror her life flashes past
Why did she try to grow up so fast
She's fought all her life the scars can be seen
What was the point and what does it mean
Life has taken it's toll she can't go on anymore
Her body gives in and she falls to the floor

Her eyes are closed her body lies still
She's not getting up she's had her fill
A single tear trickles and falls down her cheek
She smiles, she knows they will say she was weak

She doesn't care, feels nice to be gone
The energy depleting she can't carry on anymore

Goodbye
