The Deepest Depths Of A Starlit Sky Poem by Jake Andrews

The Deepest Depths Of A Starlit Sky

When the ink well ran dry
I felt as though my soul had died
As though there was nothing left inside of me
As if my mind was no longer free
As though the garden maze had been cut down
As Noah needed a mountain but got a mound
Your heart goes out to those who loose
The flood waters come, yet your pity says they cant be fools
For there lives were that of all alone
As the gargoyles sit, made of stone
And in the deepest depth of a starlight sky
The answer of life is only why
No ones happy just to be here
Because we need a purpose, the after life is feared
Yet how can one say that we’ve always been
The answers walked around and again
For as much as we think, we only get farther away
Maybe were afraid of the truth so the answer never stayed
I can only walk round and round and question the lie
For all my brain can do is contemplate the why
