The Deception Of Religions Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

The Deception Of Religions

Some religions teach self-meditation,
A reaching forth to higher horizons
Where the mind perceives itself to travel,
To a higher plane, a 'holiness' they tell.

Some would don human robes of piety,
Vestments and veils, imagined purity.
Mantras in temples are prayed all day
But the heart is not changed in any way.

Some religions worship ancestors
Burn incense and ask for all earthly favors.
Still some religions have so many gods
So many doctrines that can make one mad.

But the worst religion is the one of Hate,
Those that teach killing's proof of faith.
This is the religion that will bring Destruction
To this earth of proud men and crazed religions.

But the truth of the matter concerns the heart,
It is where we bring out what we can impart.
We must truly seek to love and bring Peace
Because if we practice this, wars will cease.
