The Days Of The Rhymers Poem by Francis Duggan

The Days Of The Rhymers

The days of the rhymers are in the long gone
And rhymers today as ever rhyming on
Though without any hope of knowing of literary renown
Today there are rhymers in every village and city and town
Though literary critics claim rhyme as a literary form is dead
And no hope for a revival for it in the decades ahead
But there will always be people who enjoy writing rhyme
Despite it being considered as a waste of time
And though rhyme it is looked on as long out of date
And modern poets the literary critics celebrate
But despite what the literary critics of rhyme does say
There are no shortage of rhymers in the World of today
Rhyme as a literary form died decades ago
But that there will always be rhymers happens to be so.
