The Day The Twins Died, The Day The World Cried Poem by Elizabeth Grant Price

The Day The Twins Died, The Day The World Cried

Early morning hours fresh and still,
People waking from their sleep,
Children, getting ready for school,
Mommy fixing breakfast for everyone,
Daddy shaving, getting ready for work,
Just another ordinary day,
Until the utter of damnation

Something stirs,
Time stood still,
The world stops,
Holds her breath,
All in silence

Terror in the sky,
Buildings crumble,
Tempers flaring,
Horns blaring,
People perish,
Children crying

Planes crashing, exploding,
Chaos, smoke, flames,
Infernal balls of fire,
Overtake New York

Mommies, and Daddies didn't come home,
Brothers, sisters suddenly disappeared,
Aunts, Uncles, cousins vanished,
Friends, co-workers all gone

Two peaceful skylines disappeared,
A thousand cries sounded as one,
Everyone running scarred,
With shattered hearts,
America is stunned

Heroes, racing one by one, gave their lives,
Crime stops, Law-enforcement rush to task,
Firefighters, flashing fast and hard,
Morning workers rush with speed,
NY buried in a shade of rubbles,
Debris everywhere,
Minds in disarray

Twins grandeur to all, died,
No longer stands,
Angels fly,
World cried
