The Dark Season Poem by Hazel Durham

The Dark Season

Rating: 5.0

Her fragile emotions blowing to and fro
Like a New York breeze,
Her tantalizing green eyes turning black,
All part of the big freeze,

Glaring white snow pure as her soul,
But the dark skies smothers her heart,
As she tries to free herself from her
ghosts of inadequacy,
Ghosts that haunt her mind, her fragile
part,

She loves him, she loves like the roar of
the Atlantic ocean,
Her green eyed interpretation of life
Makes her fragile emotions
Scream as she dreams

Of peace for her conflict to cease,
Her man loves her in every season
Of her changing moods,
Of a self hating season,

The sun hides from this dark season,
Of shifting sands along the wildness of the ocean,
Soon this will pass,
Calmer emotions, calmer oceans,

Her man stands firm, constant his
emotions,
True, real, beautiful as the dazzling
ocean,
She thanks God for the beauty of his
emotions,
Saving her in the dark season,

As it passes
She rises and begins to bloom again
underneath the warmth of the sun.

Such optimism in the face of such adversity! And such wisdom! And such brilliance! And such a great work of art! A hopefully beautiful depiction of depression! Bravo, Hazel. The hero and heroine overcome! ! !

Without our knowledge, sometimes we can fall into depression, but if there are caring hands to hold us firm, we will never fall down. As sure as spring arrives after the chilling winter, this temporary depression will give way to greater cheer and heightened enthusiasm! The vagaries of moods are given poignant expression, but the tone is one of hope and not of despair! Great write, Hazel.....
