The old banyan tree
Which lay it
For years and years
Was cut down,
Cut down one day
And it took many days,
Many days to finish it,
First they came
And went up the tree
To chop off the branches
One by one
And thereafter the bigger ones
And then the stem,
The stem was started hitting,
Hewing and hewing
Till it tumbled and fell down
With the greenery in chaos
And desertion and ruin.
