The Crucifixion Poem by Geoff Lathy

The Crucifixion

Dumb motherf.....r,
Too quick to trust her,
(was Oedipus ever this blind?)
Too quick to draw breath
And think;
(what thought was ever interrupted?)
And do flowers fall in love anyway
In the cold dark months before spring?
What matter the cold touching of lips,
The soft earthy murmur of words,
When the frosty soil draws the illusion
Too close, to a close?
Time enough to draw breath in the languid heat
Of summers sunny fecund days,
Time enough to trust her,
Poor stupid mother,
in the hard, fiery, wrenchings of earth.
